儿童福建营兼中秋节嘉年华
Kid's Hokkien Workshop & Mid Autumn Carnival

Li Ho! (Hello in Hokkien) My name is Gantang!

Jiak Gantang 吃坎镗 literally means eat potato.

It is a slang used to refer to a person who adopts western culture and lifestyle or describing a Chinese that is unable to converse in his/her mother tongue / dialect language.

GONG SIMI?

Ah Ma, what are you saying?

Does your child always give that strange look whenever an elderly speaks with them in Hokkien?

HOKKIEN MEE?

Do you know that Wanton Mee is a Cantonese term?

Besides knowing Hokkien Mee, how much do they know about their dialect language?

BAO KA LIAO!

Understanding Basic Hokkien language and culture.

We adopt a participatory approach where children learn Hokkien through the application of the dialect during class.

Learning a dialect language may be easier for children as compared to adults. Young minds are like a piece sponge, absorbing and grasping new information quickly.
